On Wednesday February 16th, 2011, the governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, spoke on national television about a topic that most other politicians steer away from, the spending of our government. He states that the deficit has hardly been alleviated and if we continue this way it will harm our future in multiple ways. He brought to our attention ways to get spending under control. One way is to change the retirement age of social security and another is to reform Medicare. Christie believes most of the country is in agreement with change in regard to the nation’s rapidly growing debt. Being one of the first to address these issues, others competing with Christie are forced to take a stance of what they aim to do concerning spending control in the United States. I am excited to hear that the government is cutting their spending and using useful tools in doing so. In terms of the medicare, would cutting the cost harm the citizens right to medicine? Although the upper class may not be effected, the lower class will be hit strongly. Increasing the age of retirement will help the economy in so many ways. I think its great Christie is woking on cutting cost before the state is in trouble.
